"WINTERRAUM"
Regie: Andreas Liebmann. Bühnenbild / stage design: Sven Eggers
Theater Wismar, Spielzeit 2000.
The play took place in a huge Hanse house in the medivial old town. The whole first floor was used. In a suite of rooms the play develops. It's an ongoing installation, with now spacial borders between audience and actors. The first room after the hall was a tearoom with big pedestals where vistors were invited to take place on its floor and relax. A sound installation of composer Kerstin Fuchs echoed the atmosphere and emphazied the murmuring silence. The second space, a big alcove like walk-through had cabinets on both sides of the corridor devided by curtains and contained beds. People could rest there and enjoy hearplays related to train stations, travels, and escapes. Attendants served and some fell asleep while relaxing. The last room of the suite was the garden hall, windows heading to the old grown over romantic town garden. The whole space was filled with big tiers of an auditorium rising up to the ceiling. Just a narrow passage was left between the garden wall and the first step. Inside the construction a little slide show showed families' albums slides of lucky hollidays. The stage was the snow filled garden behind the window and the vista above the wall surrounding the garden over the roofs to the huge church nearby. The hall was surrounded by black drapery and filled with red stage light. A tiny boudoir mirror was placed in the axis of the corridors that reflected the rich red glow of the lamps into the whole deepness of the corridors. Actions like classical singing lessons took place here.
