excursion to the Siedlung in Buschallee of Bruno Taut, to his housing in Trierer Straße and to the villa of Karl Lemke by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

on Saturday, July, 29, 2011 at half past 12.

The tour costs 10 euros, reduced it's 5 euros.

meeting point is the tram station Berliner Allee / Indira-Gandhi-Straße (M4 from Falkenberg and from Hackescher Markt in 20 minutes, M13 from Virchow-Klinik/Moabit and Warschauer Straße, M12 from Nordbahnhof, via Eberswalder, 27 from Schöneweide and Lichtenberg, bus 259 from Malchow)


From there it's a 5 minutes away to the Buschallee. From Buschallee it's a 15 minutes walk to the Obersee.


The tour will end in a place with drinks and food and discussions nearby.
There is the possibility to go to swim before the tour at the Weissensee or after at the public bath Obersee.


Wohnzeilte Trierer Straße

Built in 1925 to 26, for the Gehag.
His strongest experiments in colours. The colour scheme was inspired by a proposal of Karl Schmidt-Rottloff, the expressionist.
Now renovated.

Siedlung Buschallee

First the L-shaped block in Gartenstraße was built 1925 to 26. The settlement in Buschallee of more than a kilometer length was built in 1928-29.
It's his most urban settlement. Built for Gehag as well. It got renovated in the last years.

the land house by Mies van der Rohe

The house for Karl Lemke was his last building in Germany before his emigration to the US, built in 1932 to 1933.
With 160 sq m it is quite small but it is a clear and his only built example that comes close to his famous courtyard houses. It's cultural heritage since 1979, since 1990 it houses an art gallery. It was renovated in the last years.
